<lom:langstring xml:lang="de">Quereinsteiger:innen sind eine wachsende, heterogene Gruppe berufserfahrener Personen, die neben traditionell ausgebildeten Lehrkräften verstärkt ins österreichische Schulsystem integriert werden. Über ihren Rollenwechsel, ihre berufliche Identifikation und die zugrunde liegenden Motivationsfaktoren ist bislang wenig bekannt – Kenntnisse, die entscheidend sind, um Ausstiegsneigungen zu verstehen und den langfristigen Verbleib im Lehrberuf einzuschätzen. Die Mixed-Methods-Studie im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts ProQ-STEAM adressiert diese Forschungslücke über leitfadengestützte Interviews in der Steiermark (n = 7) und eine Online-Befragung in Tirol (n = 52). Die qualitativen Daten wurden mittels reflexiver thematischer Analyse ausgewertet. Für die quantitativen Daten erfolgte die Analyse auf Basis deskriptiver Kennwerte und inferenzstatistischer Verfahren zur Prüfung von Zusammenhängen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Quereinsteiger:innen hohe Motivation und ausgeprägte berufliche Identifikation mitbringen, den Übergang in das Schulsystem jedoch als herausfordernd empfinden und vielfältigen Unterstützungsbedarf äußern. Daraus ergeben sich konkrete Hinweise für die zielgerichtete 
Weiterentwicklung von Qualifizierungs- und Unterstützungsangeboten im Quereinstieg.</lom:langstring>
