University College for Teacher Education of Christian Churches Vienna/Lower Austria Negotiating identity : multilingual parental engagement in a predominantly monolingual education system The tension between superdiverse multilingual societies and predominantly monolingual educational systems tends to disadvantage multilingual students. While parental engagement can play a crucial role in supporting these students’ academic achievements, multilingual families might face challenges due to linguistic mismatches and systemic barriers.
